Bollywood

Today I read and article about Bollywood and the history of it.  The first movie ever produced in India was in 1913 and it was a short-film by Dadasaheb Phalke.  After its first movie, Bollywood became a factory and by the 1930's, Bollywood was producing 200 films per annum.  Making movies in the 40's became tough when India had its Great Depression and the Indian Independence Movement.  1937 was the year that India's first color film was released and it was called Kisan Kanya.  In the 1970's, India began producing romantic film's and released it first action film.  After their romantic period, Bollywood turned to Gang and violent movies.  In the 1990's, India began to realize people liked family films for the most part so they began to produce those more than anything.  Finally in the early 2000's, people all over the world began to realize that Bollywood was growing in popularity.  It's most recent famous and most successful movie they have produced is the movie, Slumdog Millionare that won many oscars at last-nights Oscars.  They have also produced Moulin Rouge and many other great films.  Bollywood is growing quickly and should be a threat in the future to America's movie Industry.  Alter, Stephen.  "Bollywood."  Wkipedia.  16 February 2009.  26 February 2009.  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bollywood#References
