Thanksgiving Holiday

Today I read an article on Thanksgiving and why it started.  Thanksgiving started when English settlers gave food to the Native Americans after the bad winter at Plymouth, Massachusetts.  Thanksgiving is a time when people give thanks for their possessions and give thanks for the good harvest.  Thanksgiving in the Unites States is celebrated on the fourth Thursday of November where people gather with friends and family and eat a feast with the turkey being the center-point of the meal.  The first Thanksgiving was celebrated in 1621 on a Plymouth Plantation in Massachusetts.  Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday because I love the smell of the turkey and pumpkin pie cooking in the oven.  I also love eating all the delicious food that was created and feeling stuffed for at least 2 days.  Thanksgiving is my favorite because it is a time when I can really sit down and give thanks to everyone and everything and thank God for my good health and a good life.  Bangs, Jeremy.  "Thanksgiving."  Wikipedia.  01 March 2009.  03 March 2009.  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thanksgiving
