Today I read an
article by Toms Meersman on startribune.com about a family that enjoys a campfire in an alley but neighbors are complaining about the smoke from the fire and how it is drafting into open windows and causing a disturbance. These neighbors are complaining about the smoke because they have learned that smoke particles in the air can cause lung irritation and some neighbors have began coughing uncontrollably. "when the window is open I can taste it," said Connie Sullivan who is a neighbor near a campfire. She says the wind blows the smoke right into her home and fills it with the irritating smell. People that are burning the wood are becoming very rude about this issue and they are telling non-burners to just close their windows so the smell cannot enter their home. I believe that people should be allowed to have a campfire in their backyard but only once a month. I think that it would be a good compromise because the people that want a fire can still have one and people that don't want a fire only have to deal with it once a month. I hope these neighbors can come up with a good compromise so that everyone is happy.
