Iraq War

Today I read an article on the Iraq War.  The Iraq War is also called the second Gulf War and is one of the most expensive wars in the history of The Unites States.  The Iraq War began on March 20, 2003 when the U.S, the U.K. and other countries invaded Iraq.  The invasion was a success and they quickly defeated the Iraqi military but then another group called al-Qaeda began to fight against the U.S.  Al-Qaeda is the group that attacked the Twin Towers on September 11, 2001 and now they are fighting and killing more U.S. troops.  The total cost of the war is over 600 billion dollars and still climbing steadily.  One of the big topics of the Iraq war was the knowledge of a risk of weapons of mass destruction.  Former President Bush spent billions of dollars looking for these weapons and finally realized that it was just a threat and they were not in Iraqi's hands.  The war began to come together after 911 due to the terrorist attacks and it finally was authorized in 2003 and the troops began to invade.  The war's codename is Iraqi Freedom and this is still the reason why troops are still in Iraq and they will continue to be until the president and executives say otherwise.  I believe this war will have no end or at least not in the near future.  If we don't pull out now, more troops will die but I realize the threat of another attack on the U.S.  This issue has many cause and effects and is a big debate and will continue to be one for generations.  Pincus, Walter.  "Iraq War."  Wikipedia.  12 March 2009.  12 March 2009.  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iraq_War
