Galveston, Texas Hurricane vs. Hurricane Katrina

The Texas Hurricane occurred in 1900 and killed 8,000 people.  This was the most deadly hurricane to ever hit the U.S. because 1 in 6 residents were killed.  The Texas hurricane was the deadliest but hurricane Katrina was the most destructive.  Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans in 2005, leaving billions of dollars in damage in its wake.  In my opinion I think Hurricane Katrina was the worst Hurricane in U.S. history because it affected everyones lives in some sort of way.  If you were not directly affected by it,

you knew someone that was or you helped by donating money to the Hurricane victims and praying for everyones safety. Hurricane Katrina was also the most costly hurricane in history by topping 81 billion dollars in damage.  I'm not saying that the Galveston Hurricane was nothing compared to Hurrican Katrina, but Katrina overall was worse than the Texas Hurricane of  1900.
